Guest Bedroom Make-Over: Guest Feature from Home Coming

I am so excited today! Today, I get to share the first post from my new contributor, Kayla from Home Coming! She has strengths in areas that I don't, so she will be stopping by regularly to offer some design advice and share some of her fun projects.

I just love this room she created! Scroll down to meet Kayla and check out her new guest room.

Hello!! I'm Kayla from Home Coming and I'm pretty darn excited to be a guest here at Pneumatic Addict Furniture! I'm a DIY and home blogger with a lot of love for updating a house on a budget. My husband is a carpenter by day (so he's handy) and I'm in advertising (so I'm creative), so we're the perfect team for taking on the task of updating our 1920's Minneapolis house. Check out the progress we've made on our home and other DIY projects here!

My husband and I have moved a TON in the last 10 years; from Minnesota, to Colorado, to Virginia and now back home to Minnesota. And with all that moving, I haven't really been able to define my apartment or home style. So now that we're back in our Minneapolis house, we're slowly renovation and updating the house to fit with our wants, needs, and best of all - style!!

After photographing our entire home for a pre-renovation home tour, I finally decided to take on the eye-sore that was our guest bedroom.  Here's what our hodge-podge guest bedroom was looking like before.

Guest Bedroom
Not very appealing, right? It's a combination of random bedding, pillows and lamps we had laying around the house from past apartments.

Now, we've just jumped into a master suite renovation, so I didn't want to spend a lot of time or money on upgrading our guest bedroom, but I wanted it to be a space I could be proud for my friends and family to stay. And since Ikea is one of my very favorite home design stores, my mom and I headed out to the wonderful store that is an Ikea store.

Ikea Trip
Four hours later, you could say that we did a little damage.

But after only $75, I was able to transform our hodge-podge guest bedroom into something beautiful.  Check this out!

I decided to go with a black and white theme after finding so much B&W stuff that I couldn't live without at Ikea - with just a few pops of color with things like the artificial grass and the large painting.

Love the upgrade? Here are all of the products I used:

B&W Patterned Pillows (in the back) // B&W Geometric Print Pillow Cover // Large Candle Holder // Artificial Potted Grass // New White Lamp // Artwork (my own)
