I love boxwood topiaries. Dried, fresh, plastic, you name it, I love the look. I like the organic element it brings indoors while looking polished. I decided I needed to make my own.
I could have sworn I had step-by-step photos saved on my computer, but as I went to write this post, I discovered said photos are no where to be found. I looked at other tutorials and the one by Miss Mustard Seed was very similar to my process. The only difference was I painted my Styrofoam green instead of covering them with moss.
Here's how mine turned out.
This wasn't one of my cheapest projects but DEFINITELY cheaper than buying one! Aside from the boxwood greenery and the Styrofoam balls, everything else I had on-hand. I probably spent around $90 total. This bad boy is almost 5 ft tall! Looking online, I found similar topiaries in the $250- 400 range.
If you would like to make your own, here's what you'll need.
3 - 8" Styrofoam balls
9 - Bunches of faux Boxwood from Hobby Lobby
8 - Hot Glue sticks
3 - Large, dried sticks from tree trimming (you could use wood dowels instead)
1 - Vase, pot, or urn
*depending on your vessel, you may also need additional Styrofoam and/or expanding foam for a snug fit.

What do you think? Organic and polished? Yeah, I think so.
